光源提供两种配置：标准配置和高功率配置。标准配置中使用中性束组合器。标准配置具有成本低、波长设计最灵活的优点。在标准配置中，可以将任意波长的光和白光组合在一起。然而，对于需要最高输出功率的应用，应选择高功率配置，其中使用高效率的分束器将不同波长组合在一起。

4通道光源包括一根5英尺长的电线，8通道光源则包括两根这样的电线。每根电线的一端有一个8针锁定接头，用于插入光源，另一端则有4对裸线接头。每对接头应连接到LED控制器的不同通道上，用户可以使用多通道LED控制器或其他恒流源同时或独立地驱动安装的LED。光源内还内置了一个带有散热片的冷却风扇。当同时运行两个或两个以上波长的LED时，应开启风扇以保持LED结点的低温，以防止LED因过热而损坏。此外，还包括一个单独的电源用于驱动冷却风扇。
