光学接触零阶半波片

Quartz Zero Order Half Waveplates are built using two Quartz Multi Order Waveplates to obtain a retardation value of λ/2. By aligning the fast axes of the two waveplates with difference, we can achieve the desired phase difference of π. The Multi Order Waveplates can then be combined to form Zero Order Waveplates.


Optically Contacted Zero Order Half Waveplates have their two matching surfaces bonded together through Van der Waals forces of attraction. Beam deviation and transmitted wavefront are excellent. However, the differential expansion can cause stress to be built up within the bonds, resulting in separation. Hence, it requires more protection from stress and temperatures.




Quartz are excellent birefringent crystals. Due to its high UV, VIS, and NIR transmittance, and its ability to rotate polarized light and high damage threshold, it is very useful for transmittance from 190-2900nm wavelength. With high hardness properties, it is commonly used in the retardation plate. Quartz can exhibit circular birefringence allowing the ordinary and extraordinary beam to propagate with the same velocity using the same refractive index. Hence its effect is useful in rotators.
